Excursion to the foot of Avachinskiy volcano, 1-day trip

We invite you to participate in the trip to the foot of active volcano Avachinskiy (2751 m), since 1737 it erupted 13 times. The last eruption was recorded in 1991 and even now the volcano continues to “smoke”. You will have an opportunity to take a walk to Verblud (Camel) mountain. The mountain appeared after the eruption of Avacha volcano thousands of years ago, during which hot lava was flowing out of the giant crack in the earth-crust and formed the mountain.

 

Itinerary:

Transfer to the tourist base at the foot of Avachinskiy volcano by ATV (2, 5 hrs., by 4/6 WD truck or jeep). The base is situated on the altitude of 950 m. Walk to the top of Camel Mountain (1150 m, 2 – 3 hours). Take photos of natural landscapes and flowers (depends on the season of the year) – golden rhododendron, Kamchatka rhododendron, Nelson’s saxifrage, Siberian anemone, wild rye (Elymus) are abundant in the end of June – end of July. Watch the Zhupanovsky, Vilyuchinsky, Dzenzur and an imposing Koryaksky volcano from the top of the Camel Mountain.

 

Walk back to the base where hot dinner will wait for you. Here you can see a lot of marmots (locals usually call them “tarbagans”), which are not afraid of people and come very close to tourists to be fed.

 

PM – drive back to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Ascending the Avachinskiy volcano (2751 m), 1-day trip

Avachinsky volcano is one of the most active volcanoes of Kamchatka. It has appeared more than ten thousand years ago. It is also called ' home ' volcano, because of its location in 50 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky city. Its height is 2751 m above sea level. Since 1737 it has erupted 16 times. The last eruption was recorded in 1992 when the lava flows reached nearly the foothill of volcano. Between Avachinskiy and Koryakskiy volcanoes, located Camel mountain formed as a result of the movement of the earth's crust. The mountain was named due to its shape and now it serves as a trainer for the tourists before the ascending of the higher peaks.

The ascending route is easy (type 1), i.e. no special equipment is needed to ascend it in summer time. Weather permitting, anyone in reasonably good shape can ascend Avacha volcano. However we advise to choose 1-day ascending tour only for those who are confident in his abilities and have really good physical shape.  In case of one-day tour you do not have time for acclimatization before the ascending and for good rest after it and before driving back to the hotel.

From the top of the volcano opens a beautiful panorama of Nalychevo Valley, Zhupanovskaya group of volcanoes, the coast of Pacific ocean and massive cone of Koryakskiy volcano. The length of the ascent is 8 km. The descent takes 3 hours. Dress warmly – at the top it is always windy!

Itinerary:

Early morning transfer by 4WD or 6WD ATV from Petropavlovsk to the tourist base at the foot of Avachinskiy volcano (2,5 – 3 hrs.) located on the altitude of 950 m. Start of ascending, which usually takes up to 6-7 hrs. Lunch on top, observation of the crater. Descent. Dinner. Drive back to the city.

Boat trip around the Avachinskaya Bay

one of the biggest and the most beautiful bays in the world. This tour is a unique opportunity to see the fascinating surroundings of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky from the sea, to explore the shores of the Avachinskaya bay, to watch noisy colonies of sea birds including guillemot, puffins, sea gulls, cormorant, ducks, and, if you’re lucky, you will be able to watch Sea Eagles in their natural habitats.

On the way, you will have an opportunity to enjoy beautiful view of the volcanoes reflecting in the clear, smooth waters.

You will be enthralled by the view of the Avachinsky volcano, the latest eruption of which occurred in 1991, when Petropavlovsk residents could watch red streams of lava going down the slopes and clouds of ashes shooting into the skies.

You will also see "The Gate of the City" - 3 rocks, which rise upon the water and don't let the dreadful tsunami waves to come into the bay. These rocks are called "Three Brothers".

In ancient times, Vachkazhets was a single volcano destroyed by the great eruption, which led to its division into three main parts: the mountain Summer Cross (1417 m), mount Vachkazhtsy (1500 m) and mount Vachkazhets (1556 m). This area is one of the most beautiful places on the Kamchatka peninsula.

Trails here are fairly easy, not take much time, and give the opportunity to fully enjoy the beautiful view. It is also possible to meet various representatives of the animal world of Kamchatka, Steller's sea eagle in the sky, the curious mountain squirrels, foxes and even brown bears.

Itinerary:

Transfer by 4 / 6WD ATV from Petropavlovsk – Kamchatsky city to the Vachkazhets Mountain-mass (80 km to the west, 2 hrs.). Snack upon arrival at the area (tea, sandwiches). Walking excursion at the mountain Cirque and to the waterfall. Lunch on the shore of a picturesque lake.

Bystraya River Floating & Fishing, 1day tour

We invite you to make floating & fishing tour at one of the biggest rivers in western Kamchatka – Bystraya (Fast). You will have a good opportunity to escape from the city rush and everyday routine into the wilds of nature.

The Bystraya River plays a prominent role in the reproduction of western Kamchatka’s salmon. The main spawning grounds are situated in the accessory systems of the Bystraya and Plotnikova rivers and their riverheads. The best and most acceptable area for both rafting and fishing is the portion of the waterway from Malki settlement to the estuary. Within this area, there are few spawning grounds

Magnificent landscapes, comfortable rafts, experienced and polite guides will do their best to introduce you to the Bystaraya River.

During floating down the river you can enjoy surrounding landscapes, watch birds and luckily brown bear, as well as to observe salmon spawning.
